Your Business has been owner-operated since 2007. The principals run jobs themselves; the project managers ride a single project at a time from contract to closeout. Below are the people who will be on your site.
Augustin trained as a timber framer in Vermont in the late nineties, spent six years at a Boston firm specializing in pre-1900 restoration, and started Your Business in a barn outside Hudson with one apprentice and a 1996 GMC. Eighteen years later he still raises every frame himself.
He runs the practice's restoration side and is the firm's point person for historic preservation work and SHPO coordination. He sits on the Hudson Architectural Review Board and has co-authored the Mid-Hudson Historic Builder's Manual with Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Esme came to Your Business from a mid-sized commercial GC in Manhattan where she ran cost engineering on adaptive-reuse projects. She runs the practice's pre-construction, contracts, and the in-house cabinet shop. Every three-tier pricing exercise the firm produces goes through her desk.
She is also the firm's lead negotiator on supplier and subcontractor agreements, and the reason we offer guaranteed-maximum-price contracts at fixed contingency on every job over $1M. If you ask why a number is what it is, Esme is the person who can answer.
Cyrus runs the field. Every superintendent on every Your Business job answers to him, and he's on at least two job sites every working day. He came up through a third-generation Catskills framing crew and worked seven years on residential timber-frames before he ever set foot on a Your Business raise.
He is the person owners reach when something has gone unexpectedly — a delivery short, a field discovery, a code change. His phone is on at six in the morning and rarely off before nine. He still keeps a tape on his belt every day.
