Your Business / Studio

The studio.

Your Business is three people working in two cities — Lisbon and Tartu — making one game at a time. We were founded in early 2022 around a small score, a small idea, and a small grant. VEILSPIRE is our debut.

/ The mission

Small games made carefully, for the people who'll notice.

We exist to make games at the scale we can finish them. We are deliberately tiny. Three people, one game in flight, no second-product distraction, no contract work, and no plans to grow past five. We want every line of code, every brushstroke, and every cue of music in the game to be ours. We will fail at this in small ways but we are committed to it as a north.

We don't make games for everyone. We make games for the four hundred thousand people we believe will love a careful one. Our success metric is not units shipped — it is the number of players who finish, mark in chalk, and tell us we got something right. The game's funding model is built around that conviction: a Kickstarter, two grants, and the payroll we draw from our co-op savings.

If you are a press contact or a curator wondering whether to write about us — yes, please. If you are a publisher wondering whether to fund us — also yes, but only if you understand we are deliberately not scaling. If you are a player — wishlist the game and tell two friends. That is more help than money.

"We are trying to make a small thing well, on a clock that we own, with people we will still know in ten years." — Saoirse Ní Bhaoill, in the Mar 2026 devlog

Saoirse Ní Bhaoill

From Galway, IrelandNow in LisbonRIAM, 2014

Saoirse studied composition at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and spent four years writing scores for short films at Galway's Solas Cinematheque before pivoting to games. She wrote the announce trailer score before she had a guitar. She writes most of the dialogue in VEILSPIRE too — the studio operates on the rule that the person closest to the music is closest to the words.

She is the studio's principal voice in interviews, the person whose phone is on first thing in the morning, and the person who insisted "Refuse" be a verb in the game. She gets first credit on every official press release because we put it in the operating agreement.

Paweł Krawczyk

From Wrocław, PLNow in LisbonASP Wrocław, 2013

Paweł spent eight years at a Warsaw studio doing environment art for AA stealth games — including two titles you've definitely heard of and one you haven't. He left in 2021, met Saoirse at the Lisbon GameDev meetup that fall, and they founded Your Business four months later. He paints every environment in VEILSPIRE in 4K Photoshop before any of it touches Godot.

He is the studio's interaction designer too: every menu, every cursor, every chalk-mark animation in the game came from his sketchbook before it became code. He has, by his own admission, a small but vocal opinion about Wave Function Collapse.

Tobias Holm

From Århus, DKNow in Tartu, EEKTH, 2015

Tobias joined the studio in early 2023 from a Stockholm engine-tools team, where he built audio middleware that ships in two AAA RPGs you may have logged a hundred hours in. He moved to Tartu in 2024 to be closer to his partner's family. He is responsible for the 11ms reactive audio engine, all gameplay code, and the studio's open-source gd-audio-react plugin for Godot, which is now used by 1,800+ projects.

Tobias is the partner who reads the GDPR rules and the publisher contracts. He is also the one who decided we don't take meetings on Mondays. Every "we'll get back to you within 48 hours" on this site is him on a Tuesday morning.

/ Studio history

Four years, one game, told in milestones.

Q1 2022Founded

Your Business is founded in Lisbon

Saoirse and Paweł sign the operating agreement at a kitchen table in Alfama. The studio's first asset is a 14-second piano cue Saoirse wrote the day they met. They put €4,000 of their own savings into the bank account and named their first build "veilspire-prototype-001."

Q4 2022Grant 01

Portuguese Game Dev Fund grant

€42,000 from the Direção-Geral das Artes — the first non-self-funded euro the studio sees. Money used to extend Paweł's runway through the first vertical slice. Used to advertise for an engineer; nineteen applicants, none right.

Q1 2023Tobias

Tobias joins the studio

Found through a thread on the Godot forums about audio scheduling latency. Quit his Stockholm job in three weeks. Equity-aligned co-founder from day one — the operating agreement is rewritten the morning of his first work day.

Q3 2023Kickstarter

VEILSPIRE Kickstarter funded in 11 days

€164,000 raised against a €60K target — 1,840 backers across 28 days. The campaign tier list, including the controversial €240 "Saoirse will write a 90-second cue inspired by you" tier (sold out in 19 minutes), is preserved on the Kickstarter page as our public memory.

Q1 2024Showcase

Day of the Devs showcase

Showcased at Day of the Devs at Summer Game Fest 2024 alongside thirty-four other indies. First time the trailer is seen by more than ten thousand people. Wishlist count crosses 1,000.

Q4 2025Trailer

Announce trailer drops publicly

2:14 second announce trailer goes live on YouTube on 4 November 2025. Featured in The Game Awards' Indie spotlight reel. Wishlist count goes from 2,200 to 4,800 in 72 hours.

Q3 2026Launch

VEILSPIRE launches on PC & macOS

Launching simultaneously on Steam, Epic, GOG, and itch.io. Steam Deck Verified at launch. A Switch 2 port is in scope but not yet announced. The day after launch the studio takes a week off — every member of the team has it pre-booked.

2024 · Plugin · Open source

GD-AUDIO REACT

Tobias's open-source Godot plugin extracted from the VEILSPIRE engine in late 2024. Used by 1,800+ projects. MIT licensed. Studio's first contribution back to the engine.

2023 · Itch · Prototype

VEIL SPIRE · vertical slice
