Salt Cure

Twenty-four feet of shallow-draft skiff built by Carolina Skiff in 2019. Drafts twelve inches loaded, runs to forty-five knots flat, and gets us into the marsh cuts where the redfish stack at low tide. Re-powered with a new Yamaha 200 in 2023.

Hull Truth

Thirty-eight-foot Albemarle express built in 2017 — the workhorse of the fleet. Twin Cummins diesels, deep-V hull that handles a four-foot chop without complaint, and a full tower for sight-fishing the gulf stream weed lines. Re-electronicized winter '24.

Fifty-two-foot Viking convertible, the long-range tuna boat. Two staterooms, two heads, full galley, and a 1,600-gallon fuel capacity that puts the canyons in easy reach. Captained by Roy himself — she's been in the family since 2014.

Maintenance program

Boats break. Ours don't.

Every vessel hauls out twice a year for full survey, bottom paint, and engine service at Jarrett Bay. Below is the rolling program — boats that don't pass don't leave the dock.

Spring haul

March bottom paint, prop service, anode replacement, and full hull survey by Jarrett Bay yard.

Engine service

Cummins / MAN / Yamaha factory-certified annual service. Oil + filter every 200 hours offshore.

Electronics

Full Furuno / Garmin firmware refresh every spring. Radar tube replacement at 4-year mark.

04

USCG insp.

Annual Coast Guard COI inspection. Quarterly fire-safety + flare inventory checked by 1st mate.
