Three captains. One payroll.

All three are on Tide Mark payroll — not contractors, not part-timers. USCG 100-Ton Master licensed, drug-tested annually, and on this dock most days of the year. Their charter histories below.

Capt. Roy
CaptainRoy Halloran
Captain 01 · Founder & Live-aboard

Capt. Roy.

Founder · Bluewater Mary · Long-range tuna

Roy started Tide Mark in 2009 with a single 38-footer he ran out of his uncle's slip. Sixteen years later he's still running the boats — though now from the bridge of the Mary, where he runs the tuna trips that built the company's reputation. Roy doesn't fish weekends he doesn't book; if you see his name on the calendar, the trip is going.

He's been recognized by the National Marine Fisheries Service for his catch-and-release billfish program and serves on the NC Marine Resources Commission as the charter-fleet representative.

What he's known for

Reading temperature breaks at distance — Roy's hit the Big Rock with eyes-on-the-chart navigation more often than the spread of the boats around him. If you want a swordfish at midnight, he's the captain.

Captain 02 · Offshore

Capt. Jorge.

Hull Truth · Offshore mahi & marlin

Jorge came up running mate jobs off Hatteras at fourteen, got his Master's at twenty-one, and joined Tide Mark in 2016 after four years running offshore boats out of Oregon Inlet. He runs the Hull Truth — our offshore workhorse — six days a week from April through October.

He's the captain to ask for if you're after numbers in the cooler. Jorge's catch rate on the 8-hour mahi trip is the highest in the fleet — a function of relentless live-baiting and a willingness to run another twelve miles past where everyone else turned around.

What he's known for

Live-baiting kingfish on light tackle — and a willingness to run an extra twenty miles for a hot bite. Jorge's also the IGFA-certified Yellowfin Master we send if you want a tournament-style trip.

Captain 03 · Inshore

Capt. Lena.

Salt Cure · Inshore & families

Lena grew up flat-fishing the Cape Fear marshes with her dad and bought her first guide boat at twenty-three. She joined Tide Mark in 2020 and runs the Salt Cure on inshore charters — redfish, trout, flounder, and the world's most patient teaching trips for kids and first-timers.

If you've never held a rod and don't want to be talked down to, Lena is the captain you're looking for. She also runs every fly-only inshore trip we book.

What she's known for

Sight-fishing reds in eight inches of water — and being the calmest voice on a boat with three kids and a tangle of leader. Also: the only fly-rod guide on the dock.
