The clinical layer

Built with — and watched by — licensed clinicians.

Every prompt, every visualization, every nudge in Your Business is reviewed by a 12-person clinical advisory board, audited annually, and benchmarked against published research on mood-tracking and adjunctive digital tools.

What the literature says

Mood tracking — when it helps.

Mood-tracking apps are not therapy. The research is clear: they're most useful as a between-session tool, used briefly and consistently. Here's the work that shaped our design.

JMIR Mental Health · 2023

"Daily mood tracking and depression symptom trajectories: a 6-month cohort"

A 6-month observational study of 1,400 users found that participants who completed at least four check-ins per week reported a meaningful reduction in PHQ-9 score versus matched controls — but the effect was dose-dependent and reversed at >2 minutes per session.

"Adjunctive digital mood tools in outpatient CBT: a pragmatic RCT"

Patients in active CBT who used a structured between-session mood log reported faster progress on therapy goals — but only when the tool was paired with in-session review. Your Business's "share-with-therapist" feature is built on this finding.

"Streak mechanics and self-blame in mood-tracking apps"

Users who failed a streak in a popular mood app reported elevated self-criticism scores at 30 days. We removed streaks from Your Business after reading this paper. We've never put them back.

Privacy & data

What we keep, and what we don't.

Your Business is HIPAA-aware, end-to-end encrypted, and built on a principle our security lead repeats every Monday: "the most private database is the one we don't have." Your journals never leave your device unencrypted. Even our team can't read them.

We're a Public Benefit Corporation, which means we're legally required to weigh user wellbeing alongside profit — written into our charter. We've never sold or shared mood data, and never will. We publish a transparency report every January.
