We measure every kilogram of CO2 our property emits — staff commute, kitchen, generator, laundry, guest flights. We then offset 128% via verified Costa Rican reforestation partners.
72 of 78 staff live within 5 miles of the property. Our average tenure is 6.4 years. We pay 32% above the national hospitality wage. Healthcare and pension are fully covered.
Glass-bottle water program, refillable amenities, paper-stick swabs, biodegradable laundry bags. Vendor agreements forbid plastic-wrap deliveries — produce arrives in returnable wood crates.
Every guest is invited to plant a native sapling on day-three of their stay, tagged with their name and tracked over 20 years. 1,840 trees planted by guests since 2019. Survival rate: 93%.
Our 340 acres are under permanent conservation easement, donated to the Monteverde Conservation League. Even if we sold the lodge tomorrow, no future owner could ever build on this land.
Every booking funds two community initiatives, two conservation projects, and one tree. Numbers below are per booking, averaged.
