Wedding portrait on film

— A photographer who shoots on film

The light
before the
vows.

Wedding and editorial photography on film and large format. Shot quietly. Printed thoughtfully. Forty weddings a year, never two the same.

— A note from the
photographer

I shoot on medium format
and quiet 35mm.

I will not pose you. I'll watch the light, find a frame, and trust you to be wherever you need to be. The result is photographs that look like the day, not the catalog version of it.

— A note about the photographer

Margot Hayes,
shooting weddings
since 2013.

I came to wedding photography from a decade in editorial fashion — Nylon, Vogue Korea, the slower magazines. I bring the same eye to a wedding day that I bring to an editorial shoot: composition first, light second, story always.

I shoot Hasselblad 500CM medium format and a Leica M6 for 35mm reportage. Everything goes through Richard Photo Lab in Los Angeles. The film stock matters; the way I see you matters more.

Three collections.

I take forty weddings a year, mostly between May and October, mostly in the Northeast and abroad. Travel is welcomed and worked into the package. All collections include digital scans of every frame and a 100-image private gallery for your family.

She moved through our day so quietly I forgot she was there. Then the gallery arrived. Every photograph was the day, exactly as it had felt.

— Inquire

I'd love to hear
about your day.

Send me a note with the date you're considering, where you're imagining it, and anything you'd like me to know. I'll write you back within two business days from a real email — never a CRM.

I take a maximum of forty weddings a year and I read every inquiry myself.

A NOTE — I am currently booking 2026 (six dates remaining) and 2027 (open). I respond to every inquiry within two business days, even if it's only to say my date is taken.
