Two ways to get a prescription

From the couch, or from the optometrist next door.

Option B

In-person eye exam

$0–$80

For most people we strongly recommend a comprehensive eye exam every 24 months. We can locate optometrists near you who accept your insurance — and we'll honor any current prescription.

  • Find an in-network optometrist near your ZIP
  • Most insurance plans cover the exam fully
  • Required for progressive lenses or pediatric prescriptions
  • Upload your Rx after the visit and pick frames

FAQ

Common questions.

Is the at-home test as accurate as a clinic exam?

For most single-vision prescriptions, yes — refraction is reliably measurable from a phone screen at a known distance. The test is FDA-cleared and OD-supervised. It is not a replacement for a comprehensive eye health exam, which we recommend every 24 months.

What states is the at-home test available in?

47 US states. Excluded states are Alaska, New Mexico, and South Carolina due to telehealth rules. We honor any in-person prescription from any state.

What if my prescription has changed?

We compare your current Rx to the OD-signed result. If there's a meaningful change we notify you and recommend an in-person exam before fitting lenses.

Can I use FSA / HSA cards?

Yes — at checkout, both cards work for the frame, lenses, and (separately) the at-home vision test. Most plans count eyewear as a qualified medical expense.

How long is a prescription valid?

By federal law, prescriptions are valid 1–2 years depending on your state. We'll email a reminder 60 days before yours expires.
