We made Your Business
because we wanted it.

The 3pm coffee was wrecking us. We tried every powder, every bottle, every smoothie shop in Austin. Nothing did the job. So in 2021 we wrote our own formula on a kitchen table in Bouldin Creek and started shipping bags in 2022.

// THE ORIGIN

The kitchen table where it started.

The first version of Your Business was a brown sludge. Reno (our co-founder) had been overcaffeinated for the better part of a decade and had read enough on adaptogens to be dangerous. The "formula" was a kitchen scale, eight bags from iHerb, and a Magic Bullet borrowed from a neighbor.

It tasted like dirt. But it worked. The 3pm crash that had haunted Reno for ten years stopped happening. Two weeks in, his sleep got better, his afternoon meetings stopped being a fog, and his wife told him to stop drinking three cold brews after lunch.

"It tasted terrible. But by week two, all I knew was: I wasn't crashing anymore."

That sludge took two years to become a drink we'd ship. We tested 47 versions before the first bag went out the door — different mushrooms (most of them mycelium-on-grain, which is junk), different sweeteners, different fruit profiles. The hibiscus addition was version 38. The freeze-dried peach was version 44.

By 2022 we had a thing we'd give a friend without apologizing. By 2023 we'd shipped to 4,200 subscribers. By 2026 — that's right now — we ship about 14,000 bags a month from a small Austin warehouse, with a team of six, no outside investors, and the same formula we landed on in version 47.

// THE TIMELINE

Five years. Six people. Same formula.

2021

The brown sludge era.

Reno and Yael make version 1 in their Austin kitchen. It tastes terrible. It works. They make a list of 47 things to fix and start working through it on weekends.

2022

The first 500 bags.

By March we have version 47. We ship 500 bags to friends and friends-of-friends. The 30-day reorder rate is 78%. Yael quits her job at Indeed. We start the LLC.

2023

The warehouse, the third hire.

We move out of the kitchen and into a 1,200 sqft warehouse in East Austin. Hire Marcus to run ops. Hire Renée to build the website. Subscribers cross 4,000.

2024

Hibiscus. Lemon-Yuzu. The Strategist mention.

We ship two new flavors after a full year of taste-panel work. The Strategist publishes a piece in November that triples our daily orders for two weeks. We don't sell out, barely.

2025

The Sunrise launch.

After two years of asks, we ship a low-caffeine morning version. 35mg of green-tea caffeine, same actives stack. It's now 14% of revenue.

2026

14,000 bags / month. Same six people.

We've intentionally stayed small. Six on staff, no investors, no exit talk. The plan for 2026 is to add one product (a powdered creamer for the morning blend) and not much else.

// THE PEOPLE

The six people.

Reno Hidalgo

CO-FOUNDER · FORMULATION

Former product designer at Whole Foods. The original sludge inventor. Spends most days in the lab and the rest reading the supplement-industry watchdog newsletters.

Yael Brennan

CO-FOUNDER · CEO

Spent six years at Indeed in growth, then left for the kitchen table. Runs the business side; her main rule is that she never meets a financial projection she trusts more than a customer email.

Marcus Park

HEAD OF OPS

Came over from a co-packer in San Marcos. Knows the freeze-dry process better than the suppliers do. Doesn't drink the product (he doesn't drink anything but black coffee).

Renée Okonkwo

DIRECTOR OF DTC

Runs the website, the email, the SMS, the brand. The reason every email feels like it was written by a human (it was). Bouldin Creek native. Drinks Lemon-Yuzu, year-round.

Sara Vasquez

QUALITY + COMPLIANCE

Former lab tech at Eurofins. Reviews every COA, every lot, every label. Has rejected two batches in eight years and is more proud of those two than any she's approved.

Theo Barlow

CARE + COMMUNITY

Answers every email at care@. Has personally written about 12,000 of them. If you've ever cancelled and wanted to chat, you talked to Theo.

// THE PRINCIPLES

Four principles we run on.

The label tells the truth.

Every milligram on the label is in the bag, at the dose listed, with no hidden filler. We pay 4× for the lion's mane that actually works. No proprietary blends, ever.

~

Subscribers own the relationship.

One click to skip, swap, pause, cancel. No phone calls. No retention discounts only offered to people threatening to leave. We earn the next month every month.

We stay small, on purpose.

No investors. No board. No quarterly hyper-growth pressure. Six people. We make a thing we like, we ship it, we go home at five. We're not building toward an exit.

The customer is right almost always.

If you don't like the bag, we refund the bag. If you didn't like the experience, we'd rather know. Theo answers every email — and roughly half the time he's the one who reformulated based on feedback.
