From quiz to bowl

How a meal actually gets to your dog.

Five steps from a five-question quiz to a bowl that arrives at your door, frozen, on dry ice, in a curbside-recyclable box. Two minutes of work for you, four days from order to bowl.

01
Day 0 · in your kitchen

You finish the quiz.

Five questions about your dog: breed, age, weight, activity, allergies. The plan-builder runs it through our vet-reviewed portion math and surfaces a recommended recipe rotation and weekly cost.

02
Day 0 · in your kitchen

You pick a starter box.

Two-week starter at half-price ($47 instead of $94). You can change cadence, swap recipes, or cancel any time before the second box ships. Card billed at checkout.

03
Day 1 · in our kitchen

We cook in our USDA kitchen.

Each batch is cooked at 170°F in our human-grade kitchen in Iowa City. The chicken cooks in chicken broth, the beef in beef broth — never water, never starch.

04
Day 2 · on the line

We portion and vacuum-pack.

Fresh-cooked food is cooled, weighed to your dog's daily portion, vacuum-sealed in 7-day pouches, and flash-frozen. The pouches are the same plastic used by hospital food services.

05
Day 3-4 · on your porch

It ships on dry ice.

We ship two-day on dry ice in insulated boxes. Boxes arrive frozen, sometimes still smoking; pouches go straight into the freezer. Box and insulation are curbside-recyclable.

06
Day 4 · on the dog mat

The first bowl.

Thaw a pouch in the refrigerator the day before. Each pouch holds 7 days of food for one dog. Open, scoop, serve — the morning portion is half the pouch, the evening portion is the other half.

What is — and isn't — in the food

The list, both halves.

Common questions.

Do I need a freezer?
Yes — a standard refrigerator-freezer holds 2 to 3 weeks of food for a 50 lb dog. Multi-dog homes sometimes add a small chest freezer; the plan-builder calculates how many cubic feet your rotation will need.
What if my dog won't eat the food?
We refund the starter box in full and skip the next shipment. Most dogs need a 2-3 day transition mixed with their old food; the starter pack ships with a transition guide.
Can I feed this to puppies?
Yes. The plan-builder switches to puppy macros (higher fat, smaller portions) for dogs under one year old. Senior macros switch on at age eight.
My dog is on a vet diet — can I match it?
Often, yes — the four recipes cover sensitive-stomach, allergy-friendly, and joint-support needs. For prescription diets (renal, liver, EPI), we'll happily refund the starter and recommend the right rx-formula.
How does cancellation actually work?
One click in your dashboard. No phone tree, no retention call, no restocking fee, no questions. The next box stops shipping; your card is not charged again.
