A small studio for contemporary technique, improvisation, contact, and floor work. Run by working dance artists. Twelve to fourteen people per class. We do not run trend classes. We do not film for the algorithm. We make room for slow questions.
Meridian was founded by four dance artists who wanted a room where intermediate adults could keep training without auditioning, where younger dancers could be taught carefully, and where choreographers could rehearse on a sprung floor. Class size is held at fourteen. Faculty are working artists with companies you have heard of. We close the door at the start of class.
Four ongoing tracks, taught year-round. Most members weave two or three together — a Tuesday technique class, a Thursday improvisation, a Saturday open floor. Drop-ins welcome at any level once the term begins.
Contemporary release-based technique with phrase work. Floor sequencing, partnering, locomotion across the diagonal. Levels I–III.
Structured improvisation rooted in score-making, attention practices, and listening. Open to all bodies who have moved before.
Contact improvisation jam plus weekly skill class. Weight-sharing, lifting, falling, rolling point. Beginners welcome on Sundays.
Low-to-the-ground sequencing — the descents, transitions, and floor pathways that contemporary work asks for. Sprung Marley.
Spring term opens May 6 and runs ten weeks. You can register for a single class on a drop-in card, or hold your place with a term card and save twenty-five percent. New movers — try a single class first.
