AMH Hormone
Anti-Müllerian Hormone — a blood test estimating how many eggs you have left. Higher is generally better, but the number is meaningful only in context with age and other markers.
Antral follicle count Ultrasound
The number of small egg-containing sacs visible on ultrasound at the start of a cycle. A second estimate of ovarian reserve, alongside AMH.
Blastocyst Embryo
An embryo at day 5 or 6 of development, with about 100 cells. Most transfers happen at this stage.
Beta hCG Pregnancy test
A blood test that measures pregnancy hormone levels. We run two, 48 hours apart, after a transfer to confirm a viable pregnancy.
FET Procedure
Frozen Embryo Transfer — placing a previously frozen embryo into the uterus. Often has equal or better success than fresh transfers.
ICSI Lab technique
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection — directly injecting one sperm into one egg. Used for male-factor infertility or prior fertilization failure.
IUI Procedure
Intrauterine Insemination — placing washed sperm directly into the uterus around ovulation. A lower-intervention treatment.
Letrozole Medication
An oral fertility pill (Femara) taken for 5 days early in a cycle to encourage ovulation. The most-prescribed first-line medication for IUI.
PGT-A Genetic test
Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy — a biopsy of an embryo to count chromosomes before transfer. Common for patients 35+.
Reciprocal IVF Procedure
An IVF cycle where one partner provides the egg and the other carries the pregnancy. Common for female-female couples.
Stimulation Cycle phase
The 8–14 days of injectable hormones that grow multiple eggs to maturity before retrieval.
Trigger shot Medication
A single injection (usually hCG or Lupron) given 36 hours before egg retrieval to finalize maturation. The "go time" of an IVF cycle.
