The travel team competes on the regional USTA junior circuit — Levels 6 through 1, depending on the player's age and rating. Felix Ó Ceallaigh leads travel; Mariella accompanies for the larger weekends. We coordinate carpool, hotel block, and on-site coaching for every away event.
Travel team eligibility requires Performance squad placement at minimum, an active USTA junior membership, and a parent-signed travel agreement covering on-court conduct, lodging expectations, and the academy's coaching protocols. We've fielded a team continuously since 2014.
Travel costs are quoted per event and billed against a season retainer. Hotel rooms are shared four-to-a-room for under-fourteen, two-to-a-room for older. Parents are welcome on every trip — many travel with the team.
USTA junior ranking points accrue per match within sanctioned events. Round depth matters more than total wins; finishing deep in a higher-tier tournament outscores a sweep at a lower one. Below: the points scale used in our region for boys and girls 12s through 18s.
Tournament-team applications open at try-outs. Performance squad placement is the minimum threshold; current team players re-confirm at the start of each semester. The application form covers travel logistics, parent commitments, and a single coach interview. Most decisions land within a week.
