Services & Tariff

Four core services, three add-ons, one philosophy: enough time to do it properly. No tip jar at the door — gratuity goes directly to your barber.

Your first appointment

What to expect.

If it's your first time, here's how the ninety minutes go. We've been doing this since 2017 and the rhythm doesn't change.

i.

Arrive a few minutes early

The shop is on the second floor — buzzer marked YB. We'll greet you, hang your jacket, and pour your drink before you sit down.

ii.

Five-minute consultation

Your barber will ask how you part your hair, what you actually do with it in the morning, and what you want to walk out looking like. Bring a photo if you have one.

iii.

The work

Wash, cut, hot-towel finish, and a styling that you can recreate at home. We'll explain what we're using as we go, so you can buy the same product or not.

iv.

Walk out, come back

Most of our clients rebook on the spot for four weeks out. We'll text a reminder forty-eight hours before. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged 50%.

The chairs

Four barbers.

Walt Hatch

— Owner · Master Barber · 23 yrs

Trained in Roma. Founded the shop in 2017 with one chair, his wife's permission, and a $4,000 loan from his father. Specializes in classic men's cuts, Ivy League, and the cleanest part in the city.

★ Books 3-4 weeks out · waitlist for new

Daniel Coen

— Senior Barber · 14 yrs

Joined the shop in 2018. Scissor specialist — no clippers unless you ask. Pomp, side-part, and modern classic. Quiet with new clients, talkative with old ones, and never the other way around.

★ 2 weeks out · accepts new

Marcus Okafor

— Barber · Hot Towel Specialist · 9 yrs

Came up through a shop in New Bedford. Straight-razor work and beard architecture. If you're booking a hot-towel shave, ask for Marcus. He runs more shaves than any of us.

★ 1-2 weeks out · accepts new

Elena Russo

— Barber · Newest Chair · 5 yrs

Apprenticed under Walt for two years before taking the third chair last spring. Detail-oriented, fast, and quietly excellent. Same-week openings while she builds her book — won't last.

Common questions

Things people ask.

Do you take walk-ins?

Rarely. We hold one or two slots a day for walk-ins when we can, but the honest answer is no — we book by appointment because we don't want to rush. Call us at (617) 555-0142 if you're in the neighborhood and we'll tell you if there's an opening.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel or reschedule with 24 hours of notice, no charge. Inside 24 hours, we charge 50% of the service. No-shows are charged in full. We hold appointments with a card on file but don't run it unless we have to.

Do you cut children's hair?

Yes — boys ages 5 and up, ideally booked alongside a parent under our Father & Son slot. Younger than 5 is a big ask in a barber chair; we'll happily refer you to a kids' shop in the area.

Can I tip with a card?

Of course. Or cash. Or Venmo direct to your barber — they'll have a QR code at the chair. There's no tip jar at the front desk; gratuity goes 100% to the barber, never the shop.

Do you sell the products you use?

The pomades, beard oils, and shaving creams we use are stocked at the front counter. We don't push them — but if you walked out liking the way your hair sat, the pomade is $26 and lasts about three months.

Gift certificates?

Yes. The Package ($130) is our most-given gift. Buy one at the shop or by phone at (617) 555-0142 — we'll mail a hand-stamped envelope to whatever address you give us.

Reserve a chair.

Pick your barber, pick your service, pick your hour. We'll text a reminder forty-eight hours before — and again the morning of, in case you've forgotten what civilization looks like.
