The slow art of holding still. An outdoor archery range, taught patiently.

Forty wooded acres, twenty-eight lanes, real coaches who learned the bow before they learned to teach it. Bring nothing — we'll set you up. Loose your first three arrows on the house and decide whether the discipline finds you the way it found us.

Four ways to begin

Start with one arrow. The rest follows.

Every archer who walks our gate starts on the same line: ten yards, a recurve, a coach standing behind their right shoulder. From there, the path opens — lessons, lane time, a junior squad, or a private session. Pick the one that fits this week.

/ Path 01 — Beginner

Intro ninety-minute lesson

Stance, grip, anchor, release. Ninety minutes one-on-one or in a four-archer cohort with one of our USAA Level 2 coaches. We supply the recurve, the arrows, the armguard, the tab — you supply closed-toed shoes and a willingness to be corrected gently for an hour and a half.

Level 0090 minCap 4From $48
/ Path 02 — Progression

Four-pack lesson series

The single intro almost always becomes a four-pack. Booked once and used over four to eight weeks, the series covers grouping, sight picture, draw weight progression, and a first crack at scoring. Most archers begin reliably hitting the gold by week three.

Hourly lane rental

Once you've completed an intro lesson — here or anywhere — the line is yours by the hour. Reserve a single lane or a group of three. Bow rental, six arrows, and target add-ons available at the gate. Walk-ins welcome after 2 PM weekdays, 9 AM weekends.

JOAD junior squad

Junior Olympic Archery Development for ages nine through eighteen. Two evenings a week plus Saturday morning, with USA Archery achievement pin-progression, monthly mock tournaments, and a path toward state and indoor nationals for the kids who fall hard for it.

/ The grounds

Forty wooded acres, kept quiet on purpose.

The range sits at the foot of Cedar Hollow on land that was a working orchard until 1992. We kept the apple stand, the long sheds, and most of the hardwoods. The shooting lanes run northwest to keep the afternoon sun off the bow arm. The 3D roving course winds through the back ridge — fourteen foam targets, set seasonally, a favorite for the bowhunters in October.

We're a USA Archery affiliate club and an NFAA-certified outdoor range. Lanes are covered. Targets are checked every morning. The flag goes up at sunrise, comes down at sunset, and on the rare days it doesn't move at all, you'll find one of us under the long shed lacing fletching.

What archers say after a season here.

"
I came in for a single ninety-minute lesson on a whim. Eight months later I have my own recurve, a USAA membership, and a quieter mind on Sundays.
Iona R. — Member since 2024Recurve · State indoor qualifier
"
My daughter joined JOAD at ten. She's twelve now and out-groups her father. The coaching here is the kind that makes kids want to come back.

Loose three arrows. On us.

/ How the first lesson works

Pick a date, show up fifteen minutes early in closed-toed shoes. We'll fit you with a recurve, walk you through stance and grip, and put three arrows in your quiver before your lesson clock starts. If the bow finds you, the rest of the ninety minutes is yours. If it doesn't, you've still loosed three arrows on a good afternoon.
